Samsung Introduces its New Webthru Line
of Web-ready CCTV Cameras
Secaucus NJ, August 14, 2001 - Samsung introduces Webthru technology with a completely new line of four faster, easier-to-install, surveillance cameras custom made for the internet.

Because the required internet circuitry is built into the camera body (each has its own 32bit RISC CPU running its own internet site via embedded Linux), these cameras are exceptionally easy to install and highly efficient. The family of Webthru cameras all use new Wavelet image compression technology so they provide more image information much faster than was available than in the past. Webthru cameras all feature motion detection and alarm, image compression and decompression rate controls, on-line remote upgrade of software, and external video input.

Highlights of these new products include the following:

They are capable of sending images at 30 frames per second at a resolution of 360 X 243.
Using new Wavelet technology they offer image compression efficiency 30 to 300% better than standard JEPG.
Up to 100 viewers can connect all at once with normal internet browsers from any different locations in the world where the internet is available.
The option of selecting up to 720 X 486 for a high-resolution image.
The built-in web camera server has its own programmable web page.
